Milas Region
Milas (ancient Mylasa) is an ancient city in southwestern Turkey. It is part of
Muğla Province and is administered from the provincial seat of Muğla. It was the
ancient capital of Caria and of the Anatolian Turkish Beylik of Menteşe. The
territory of Milas district contains remarkable twenty-seven archaeological
sites. Milas is situated on a fertile plain at the foot of a mountain on which
there are great quarries of the white marble that has been used for the
construction or decoration of the city's temples and other buildings since
Antiquity. There are a number of historical Turkish buildings in Milas, dating
from both the Menteşe and the Ottoman periods. A number of old houses built in
the nineteenth or early twentieth century that have been preserved in their
original appearance are worthy of mention.
The Milas Locality has shopping malls and various facilities,seaside
resorts,entertainment, nearby historical locations such as Mumcular, Gόvercinlik.
Milas airport and Tuzla are located 10 kms and also Milas and Bodrum where
fantastistic is the word to describe,in distance of 40 kms. The soil in this
region is very good for farming allowing giving lots of alternatives lots of
alternatives (organic, Olive Tree farming for which it is the most precious oil
with growing demand or else any other kind of that farming could be thought of.
